The Internal Seal-Only Connector for Bores, Tubes, and Threads

The FasTest FI is an internal seal-only connector that makes instant, leak-free connections inside holes, bores, tubes, and threaded ports up to 120 psi (8.3 bar). Rather than threading into the part, the FasTest FI inserts and seals against the inner surface — so it connects in seconds without threading onto or marring the bore, even on smooth or threaded tubes.

The uniform FasTest seal is the connector’s defining strength: it applies even force around the full inner circumference of the bore or thread, producing a leak-tight connection on surfaces that would defeat a rigid plug. This uniform FasTest seal holds reliably even into threaded, rough, and oily surfaces — making the FI ideal for vacuum and pressure testing, fluid filling, and flushing in high-volume automated production.

The FasTest FI connects to a wide range of internal features — holes and bores; straight, swaged, expanded, flared, beaded, barbed, and formed tubes; NPT, BSPT/BSPP, and metric internal threads; and O-ring boss/flare ports. With pneumatic, semi-automated, and fully-automated actuation, it integrates directly into automated test cells where consistency and throughput matter.

For pressure applications, the FasTest FI and the test part should be rigidly fixtured to prevent separation under pressure (fixturing is not required for vacuum applications). The FasTest FI is also available with ICON™ intelligent connection technology, adding seal verification, safety interlocks, and real-time data for PLC-integrated automated stations.

The Problem the FasTest FI Solves

Making a fast, reliable internal connection for leak testing is difficult with threaded plugs and rigid fittings — especially on imperfect bores:

  • Threading marks and wears bores: Threading a plug into a finished bore marks and wears the internal threads over repeated cycles, eventually scrapping good parts. The FasTest seal seals internally without threading, protecting the bore.
  • Rough and oily bores leak: A rigid plug needs a clean, precise internal surface. On threaded, rough, or oily bores, surface imperfections create leak paths. The uniform FasTest seal conforms to these surfaces for a leak-tight connection.
  • Many internal feature types: Production lines test a wide variety of internal bores, tube ends, and threads. A single rigid plug can’t cover that range, but the FasTest FI seals a wide variety of internal features with one connector.
  • High-volume automation: Manual threaded plugs cap throughput and add operator variation. The FasTest FI’s instant internal seal and pneumatic actuation are built for automated, high-volume production.

The FasTest FI solves all of this with an instant internal FasTest seal that conforms to threaded, rough, and oily bores, covers a wide range of internal features, and is ready for automated production testing.
